Using The Campaign
RAW ✔️ The Aranthian Succession – Spire of Primus, p52
The Reconquest of Primus Campaign is a complete narrative campaign that can be used alongside the Necromunda core rules. It incorporates many of the existing Necromunda campaign rules, adding additional special rules to recreate Haera's quest to reclaim her father's seat of power. The campaign is divided into two phases, separated by a period of Downtime: the Ascent phase and the Summit phase.
In the Ascent phase, gangs fight to seize or secure Spire Districts. Those supporting the Imperial House will be looking to take back chunks of the spire from those supporting Ozostium, whilst those defending Necromunda's new ruler must hinder their attackers as much as possible before they reach the top.
Then, in the Summit phase, Lady Haera and her gangs reach the uppermost towers of the spire where Lord Helmawr's palace, the Imperial Spire, is located. Here they must prepare for one final showdown with Ozostium and his allies.
This campaign allows players to use their gangs from the third part of the Succession Campaign in Necromunda: The Aranthian Succession - Ruins of Jardlan, allowing them to continue to expand and grow their power. This book covers the final phase of fighting and the ultimate struggle for victory between the Imperial and Aranthian sides.
The Arbitrator
The Reconquest of Primus Campaign requires one of the players to take on the role of an Arbitrator. It is the Arbitrator's job to keep track of victories, offer guidance to the players and control any random events or elements. In the Reconquest of Primus Campaign, the Arbitrator's responsibilities include:
- Organising the players and making a list of all of the gangs involved in the campaign.
- Keeping the players informed as to the progression of the campaign and keeping track of the control of Spire Districts.
- Deciding when each phase of the campaign begins and ends, as well as when the overall campaign begins and ends.
The Gangs
Every faction on Necromunda has an interest in who wins the fight for control over the world. The Reconquest of Primus Campaign can be played with any Necromunda gang. Also, during such a period of unrest, each House was split in its loyalties meaning that intra-House conflict was common.
Controlling Spire Districts
Central to the Reconquest of Primus Campaign is the control of Spire Districts. At the start of the campaign, gangs siding with the Imperial House will be attempting to climb the spire and retake as many Spire Districts as possible to consolidate power and gain resources. Gangs supporting House Aranthus will need to stop Lady Haera's supporters and reinforce important sectors of the spire with their presence before they can fall to the enemy. These are represented by a special kind of Territory known as Spire Districts. As Lady Haera and her allies draw closer to Ozostium, it is important to gain control of these locations to either impede or aid the reconquest. Players will start with a few Spire Districts under their control, and must try to capture more.
Pre- and Post-battle Sequence
The Reconquest of Primus Campaign uses all of the standard rules for pre- and post-battle sequences presented in the Necromunda Core Rulebook, including the gaining and spending of XP.
Winning
Victory in the Reconquest of Primus Campaign is more than just controlling the Spire Districts. Only the last leader standing can truly call themselves ruler of Necromunda. However, there are other triumphs to be earned for champions of individual glory, a full list of which can be found on page 63.
